During this episode, Paul Lawrence Vann shares insight on the impact Dr. Martin Lutther King has on his life and others. Listen and discover the philosophy of Dr. King and his legacy.
No matter what your opinion is of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., there is no denying his impact on America. Dr. King was my role model as a child, he was a brilliant human being and he is An American icon.
Dr. King led the Civil Rights Movement along with his wife Mrs. Coretta Scott King and many others, but he was the catalyst for moving the movement forward. When you walked into my house you would find a picture of Dr. King and President Kennedy hanging on the wall.
I never got a chance to meet Dr. ing but I was introduced to Mrs. Coretta Scott King in Washington, DC and it is an honor to this day. I also lived in Atlanta, Ga while on duty on the U.S. Air Force and I visited the King Center on a routine basis, I also visited Dr King's birth home.
Years later I was contacted by a staffer of Dr. Berneice King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. King and I interviewed her on my radio show, The Wealthy Speaker Show. I interviewed Berneice as she launched her mother's book, Desert Rose, The Life and Legacy of Coretta Scott King. For me, there is an intersection in my life with meeting and working with The King family and me working for a member of the Kennedy family. Their families are intertwined and I had the honor of connecting with them both.
What is important, is understanding the philosophy of Dr. King, peaceful nonviolent, this does it for me. In order for America to unite, it must come through love. Either we unite as a country, or we will all fall together.
